Guess the number of Ketupat |

What is
ketupat? Ketupat is a rice dumpling wrapped in woven coconut leafs. The leafs are woven in many shapes of pouch which is then filled with rice and set to boil up to three hours. When fully boiled the rice grains expand to fill the pouch and becomes compressed. In Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia ketupat is traditionally served on Hari Raya together with rendang, curry, kuah lodeh, and serunding.
Competition
A
container loaded with various shapes of ketupat is on display at the
Malay Heritage Centre. There are small and big sizes. These are weaved
by the MAECs of the 5 Jalan Besar GRC. They are then accumulated and
uploaded into the container, witnessed and sealed by members of
organising committee. No one will know the total number of these ketupat
in the box. Anyone may guess the total number of ketupat in that
container by using an official entry form. The right answer will only be
known when judging is completed by end of October 2008. The judges
decision is final.
Prizes:
The
following prizes will be awarded:-
First
Prize $500 Cash Voucher ; Second Prize $300 Cash Voucher ; Third Prize
$100 Cash Voucher
The
organizing committee reserves the right to award consolation prizes if
necessary.
How
to participate?
Obtain
an entry form from our participating shops at addresses listed below. No
photocopy of entry form is allowed. You must write your name and
particulars clearly in the form. Write in numerical your guess in the
box ‘My Guess is”. Deposit your entry form in the competition box
located at the Malay Heritage Centre. |
